Daguerreotype: A Mystical Mirror Reflecting Yosemite

April 29 - May 2, 2026

This 4-day workshop teaches you about the evolution, aesthetics and process of Daguerreotype printing. Conducted by Dr. Mike Robinson, a modern master of the medium, this workshop covers the techniques perfected by commercial daguerreian artists in the 1850s and beyond. Open to all skill levels and expertise. All equipment and materials are provided. Each participant will make two half-plate daguerreotypes.

This workshop is run the by the Ansel Adams Gallery in Yosemite Valley.

I offer personal and group hands-on instruction in my Toronto studio. Tutorials are either two or three days covering any topic related to the state of the art, including polishing, bromine acceleration, gilding, tinting and housing methods if desired. Students make several daguerreotypes during the lessons that they are free to take away.

 

The tutorial fee is $1000.00 per day, all inclusive, for instructions  plates and materials.
